Chilli
INGREDIENTS:
1 Basic tomato sauce
500g minced beef
or 250g smoked bacon pieces
2x 400g tins brown beans
or kidney beans
2 teaspoon powdered cumin
3 tsp powdered coriander
2 teaspoons chilli
2 tablespoons brown sugar
optional: 1 banana and 1 small tin pineapple
INSTRUCTIONS:
Follow the instructions for the basic tomato sauce but add the meat while cooking the onion.
Before adding the tomatoes, drain the fat from the pan.
Continue by adding the tomatoes and puree.
Before leaving it to simmer, add the spices and brown sugar.
Simmer on a low heat for a good hour. (1 hour !!)
About 20 minutes before end of cooking time, add the beans.
At about 10 minutes before the end of cooking time, add the fruit, if using.
Only add banana if serving immediately after cooking time otherwise it will go soggy!!
Test to see if it is as "spicy" as you like...And season to taste.
Serve with a spoonful of sour cream on top, and a sprinkle of cheese.
